"Smile… Please Smile, Mary, My Love" (From a Heart Waiting for Her Smile)
Introduction : Love has many languages, but sometimes the sweetest words come from a single smile you’re waiting to see. This poem is a playful dance of affection — a little teasing, a little longing, and a whole universe of warmth. It celebrates that magical moment when someone pretends to be sad just to hear your voice, feel your attention, and steal your heart all over again. Here, every line is a soft chase, every metaphor a warm hug, and every stanza a reminder that love becomes brighter — even mischievous — when two hearts know how to laugh together.
"Smile… Please Smile, Mary, My Love"
(From a Heart Waiting for Her Smile)
Please smile, my dear — why hide that glow?
You know you love to steal the show.
Don’t act so sad, don’t pout like this—
You know that look is pure mischief.
Please smile, my love — your glow is light,
It flips my whole world day to night.
My worries melt, they start to run—
Like ice-cream melting in the blazing sun.
Please smile, for you’re my ice-cream rare,
Soft beyond words, beyond compare.
Your laughter melts like sweetened cream,
And sweetens all my restless dream.
Please smile, I brought red roses just for you,
They lost their glow when tears came through.
The petals sighed, their colors dim,
Because your shine outshadows them.
Please smile, you make the honey sweet,
Even peppers soften at your feet.
The bees themselves forget their aim,
Confused by your bright, blooming flame.
Please smile, the jasmine tries to be,
As lovely as your heart to me.
But when you look, the blooms grow shy,
They blush and bow as you pass by.
Please smile, the morning loves your face,
It warms itself within your grace.
The breeze begins a playful spin,
Just hoping it can touch your skin.
Please smile, the raindrops leap with cheer,
They shine just knowing you are near.
The rivers rush to chase your glow,
They dance along wherever you go.
Please smile, the mountains stand up tall,
They guard your joy and catch your call.
Even the wind grows soft and mild,
Just hearing laughter from your smile.
Please smile, the moon turns shy and pale,
It hides behind a silver veil.
Your glowing cheeks outshine its height,
And steal its borrowed, borrowed light.
Please smile, the jealous stars grow still,
They dim themselves against their will.
Your pearly teeth, like sparks of dawn,
Make every midnight quietly yawn.
Please smile, for birds begin to sing,
Your joy rewires the breath of spring.
They flutter close with gentle tune,
As if your laugh rewrites the moon.
Please smile, my rose, my jasmine fair,
My honeyed breeze, my glowing air.
You warm the world with gentle art,
And stitch your shine into my heart.
Please smile, my love, for when you do,
The earth turns soft, the sky turns blue.
You are my calm, my breath, my light,
My sweetest peace in darkest night.
Please smile, for if you grace me so,
I’ll guard your soul where secrets glow.
A beloved is priceless, calm and bright,
Kept deep within the heart’s own light.

Author’s Note (Summary) :
Mary, my dear, why are you sad? Why are you silent? My love, please smile. Smile, because my life feels tasteless without you. Smile if you really want to see me live. Please smile, because I brought you roses—they carry the same fragrance you do. Please smile, because I brought you jasmine flowers, lovely just like you. Smile, because when you do, you look like a blooming flower, and even the honeybees become confused, unable to tell the difference between you and a blossom. Please smile, because the petals of flowers seem dull without your light; even peppers taste like honey. And speaking of honey—smile, because your smile is sweeter than honey itself. Please smile, because when you do, I feel like holding the whole world in my arms just to keep it as beautiful as your laughter.
Please smile, because even the morning sun feels softer, and the breeze dances with your happiness. Smile, because the sky looks bluer, the sun shines brighter, and even the smallest things feel alive when you smile. Please smile, because your mornings warm the day, your evenings calm the night, and your happiness makes everything gentle and peaceful.
Please smile, because raindrops feel lucky to touch the earth when they see your glow, and rivers seem to flow faster as if trying to follow your light. Smile, because mountains look proud when you are happy, and rivers hum a little tune as if they are thinking of you. Please smile, because when you do, I feel weightless, as though I am flying.
Please smile, because even the clouds hide themselves, shy of your brightness, and the wind whispers your name with every gentle touch. Smile, because trees sway with joy and the grass leans toward you as if listening for your heartbeat.
Please smile, because even the moon grows shy when you smile, quietly watching your cheeks glow. Smile, so the moon knows that your face shines brighter than its own light. Please smile, because even the stars seem jealous of your radiance. Smile, because when you do, your pearl-like teeth shine brighter than the stars, and I love looking at them—so smile, so I can see them again.
Please smile, because when you laugh, the birds sing louder, and the flowers lift their faces toward you, wanting to admire your beauty more closely. Smile, because when you do, all my anxiety melts like ice cream in the summer sun—and speaking of ice cream, smile, because you are my softest, sweetest comfort. Please smile, because your happiness makes every sorrow disappear, and in that moment I see only you—and that is enough for me. Please smile, because you are my rose, my jasmine, my sun, my moon, my stars, my honey, and every soft breeze that touches this earth. Smile, because when you do, I know I am the luckiest person alive to love someone like you.
And please smile, because if you do, I will always keep you hidden in my heart—for a beloved is priceless, and one should always keep what is priceless safe within the heart.
