“The Love Letter”
(O My Beloved, Tell Me Why…)
O my Shokhpari, tell me why,
You wear that little smile so sly.
Upon your face it came to stay,
What secret brought it there today?
My sweet queen, sweeter than honey too,
What is that spark inside of you?
My heart keeps asking all the day,
What shines within your eyes today?
O noor-e-mann, when you look this way,
I sink in your love more every day.
And still I hope, come what may,
I never find my way away.
O golden-haired angel, now it's true,
Gold is my favorite shade from you.
O Rooh-e-Kainaat, tell me why,
I see oceans and stars in your shy eyes.
O rosequeen, O my gulshah dear,
You are my strength, that much is clear.
But when I stand in front of you,
I lose it all—now why is that so?
O jaan-e-mann, now tell me why,
The world could never make me comply.
Yet you took charge so easily,
How are you the one controlling me?
O Noor-e-Sahar, tell me why,
Your glowing face outshines the sky.
The sun and moon both lose their light,
Whenever you appear in sight.
O Noor-e-Nazar, tell me why,
Wherever I go, near or high.
No matter the place or time,
You stay in my eyes like a steady sign.
O Tamanna-e-dil, tell me why,
I need you more than I need I.
What kind of pull is this,
Why I can’t stay without you?
O jaan-e-jigar, tell me how,
You stole my heart from me somehow.
Within a blink, it slipped away,
And now with you, it wants to stay.
I won’t call it magic or spell,
That witches use and know so well.
Because you are my angel, gentle and cute,
So tell me softly what madness could be?
O Dil-Nasheen, you stayed in my heart,
Tell me, did you love it from start?
O Crown of Beauty, O Princess of Grace,
Each night beauty bows to your face.
O my gul-e-sehra, tell me now,
What flower blooms the way you do?
What flower dares the desert's fire,
And still blooms higher and higher?
O shamim-e-subh, drifting by,
Your fragrance lifts my thoughts so high.
It lingers softly night and day,
A prayer my heart will always say.
O Sitara-e-Eshq, tell me why,
The other stars all left the sky.
Are they jealous of your light,
Or too shy to shine tonight?
O Taj-e-Muqaddar, my first love, last wish,
No one in my world feels like this.
Your beauty, your innocence, so rare,
No one else could ever compare.
Only you could do this to me,
Pull my wandering mind so free.
No one else could take that place,
You brought me back with gentle grace.
O Sada-e-Ghazal, soft and true,
My words are meant for someone like you.
Someone so special, meant to stay,
Who pulls one close, the world fades away.
Someone whose arms feel warm and right,
Where silence breathes and feels so light.
Heartbeats close, no need to speak,
Just gentle cuddles when nights feel weak.
Someone whose eyes shine full of love,
Whose flowing hair feels soft like dove.
A shade so cool, so calm, so true,
You forget the sun when near to her.
Someone with talks that never end,
Where time feels short with every chat.
Laughter stays and hours run slow,
Even silence feels warm and glow.
Someone beside whom mornings sing,
With little birds and soft wings.
And nights feel so calm, so still,
As moonlight shines just me and you.
Someone to dance in falling rain,
Laughing like children once again.
Drenched in rain from head to toe,
Each drop turns into love below.
And for me, that one will be you,
Always the same, forever true.
So tell me now, do you understand,
What my silly heart has planned?
If you liked it, just smile for me,
That’s all I ask so gently.
And if your heart allows it too,
Send me a cute line or two.
Who knows, next time in my hand,
A necklace, rose, and chocolate stand.
Take care of yourself, soft and sweet,
Your Shahzad… still loves you.

Author’s Note (Summary) :
O my delicate fairy, O my Shokhpari, tell me why is this mischievous smile appearing on your innocent face today?
My heart is eager to know what's the secret behind it, after all, O my little sweet queen—sweeter than honey, tell me, what's this spark in your eyes today?
O noor-e-mann, when you look at me like this, I get trapped even deeper in the swamp of your love… yet still I pray that I never find a way out of this beautiful swamp of yours.
O golden-haired angel, because of your golden hair, golden color has become my favorite color.
O Rooh-e-Kainaat, tell me… why is it that when I look into your cute, shy little eyes, I see the entire sky and the whole ocean inside them?
O my charming flower, O my rosequeen, O my gulshah… you are my strength, right? but still whenever I come in front of you, I become weak and helpless, can you tell me why is it always like that?
O jaan-e-mann, tell me… if I am the same Shahzad on whom the whole world never had any control and whoever tried to control this Shahzad just failed, how is it that only you have taken control over me? why are you the only one who has succeeded in this?
O Noor-e-Sahar, tell me why is it that in front of your glowing face, even the sunlight and moonlight feel dim and invisible?
O Noor-e-Nazar, tell me how is it that wherever I look and wherever I go, no matter what the time or the place is, you are always in front of my eyes?
O Tamanna-e-dil, tell me what is this effect… that now I need you more than I need myself?
O jaan-e-jigar… tell me, how did you steal my heart in the blink of an eye? I won’t even say you cast a spell on me… because magic is the work of witches… but you...you are my sweet little angel, and angels never do magic. So then tell me yourself, what is this madness? what kind of intoxication has taken over me? Please.
O Dil-Nasheen, you’ve been living in my heart for so long… so please tell me, did you like my heart?
O Crown of Beauty, O my Princess of Grace, why are you so beautiful that even beauty itself has bowed down in front of you?
O my gul-e-sehra… look into my eyes and tell me, is there any flower other than you who has the courage to bloom in a desert just like you did?
O shamim-e-subh… your fragrance has now become a prayer of my heart.
O Sitara-e-Eshq, tell me… since you arrived, where did all the other stars in the sky disappear to? Maybe they are jealous of you, or are they too shy to show their faces when you are shining in the sky brighter than all of them?
O O Taj-e-Muqaddar… you are my first love and my last wish. There is something rare in your beauty, innocence, and unique charms that cannot be found in anyone else. You did what no one else could — you brought my mind back to its senses.
O my Sada-e-Ghazal… all these feelings can only whisper to someone special, someone who is truly meant to stay with you forever— someone who pulls you into their arms so gently that the whole world fades away. Someone whose presence lets you hear the rhythm of heartbeats and feel the fragrance and warmth of their breath against your soul. Someone whose eyes shine with love, and someone whose flowing hair casts a shade so cool and comforting that you forget the harsh heat of the sun. Someone with whom endless conversations still feel too short, where laughter lingers for hours and silence itself feels comforting. Someone beside whom every morning is blessed with the soft melodies of little birds singing, and every night with the joy of watching the moon together. Someone with whom you can dance through the rain, completely drenched and laughing like children — Someone who can turn those little raindrops falling from the clouds… into a shower of love.
and for me, that special someone is and always will be you.
So tell me… do you understand what my silly heart is trying to say?
If you liked it, then smile for me… and if your heart permits, reply to me with a cute line… who knows, in the next envelope you might even find a necklace along with a rose and a chocolate.
Take very good care of yourself.
Your Lovesick… your Shahzad.
