“Little Miraal, Big Wonder" (A Child’s Smile from the Heavens)

Introduction : Children have a way of touching our hearts in ways nothing else can. “Little Miraal, Big Wonder (A Child’s Smile from the Heavens)” is a heartfelt poem inspired by a real child I saw, whose innocent smile reminded me of the beauty, purity, and joy life holds. This poem celebrates the magic of childhood and the profound impact even the smallest souls can have on our hearts.

“Little Miraal, Big Wonder"
(A Child’s Smile from the Heavens)

My friends asked me, laughing near—
“Shahzad, why do you change when kids are here?”
I smiled and said, “Who could stay the same,
When a little angel lights a gentle flame?”

You see, just months ago, my day was plain—
Tired and bored, scrolling in vain.
Then on my phone, a video appeared;
A tiny face, so pure, I cheered.

She was small, maybe one or two;
Eyes so innocent, a soul so true.
Her smile was magic, out of this world—
A little angel, in sunlight curled.

I forgot my day, my boredom, my pain;
Her laughter made the world feel sane.
I wanted to know this little one’s name—
And a family member answered back the same.

“Miraal,” they said, and my heart leapt;
A name as lovely as the smile she kept.
It means a little deer, soft and mild—
A perfect fit for this precious child.

I had loved kids, but never like this;
Her little smile became my bliss.
Whenever I tire or feel low,
I seek a child’s joy, it makes me glow.

I think of life, so full and bright—
And how my Lord creates such light.
If He made her, so small and sweet,
His own beauty must be complete.

I pray to Allah for Miraal’s life;
To keep her safe from pain and strife.
May every child smile and play,
Their hearts untouched by sorrow or gray.

When I look at her, I drift away—
Dreaming of children I’ll have someday.
In their laughter, I see pure grace;
A world reflected in each little face.

My friends laughed, tears in their eyes;
“Shahzad, stop, you’ll make us cry!”
I smiled and said, “This is why…
Children awaken the heart inside.”

Miraal’s smile, so small and bright—
Becomes my medicine, my guiding light.
The world feels soft, the heart feels free;
A glimpse of what life was meant to be.

Each child is heaven in human form;
A spark of warmth, a gentle storm.
When I see them, I feel anew—
The Lord’s love shining through and through.

So now I smile when kids come near;
Their little joys erase all fear.
Miraal, and all her tiny friends,
Remind me how this beauty never ends.

Summary :
         So today my friends asked me a very silly question. They said, “Shahzad, you seem way different and way happier than usual when you see kids. Why is that?” I laughed and told them, “Who wouldn’t act different when a small little angel is in front of them?” But they still didn’t understand what I was trying to say. So I decided to tell them a little story. Just a few months back, I was scrolling through social media on my phone. The day was just like any other—I was tired and bored. Then, I saw a video of a cute little baby, maybe one or two years old. Her face was like an angel from the seventh heaven, her eyes so innocent, and her smile completely out of this world. She smiled in the video just like a little angel, and just by looking at her, I forgot everything around me. I was no longer bored or tired. I liked her smile so much that I thought I should ask her name. One of her family members replied that her name was Miraal. I thought, “Oh my God, her name is just as cute as her smile.” Miraal is of Arabic origin and means “female deer,” which fits perfectly—her innocent eyes and little smile resemble a delicate little deer.

I liked kids before, but after seeing little Miraal, my only medicine when I’m sad, tired, or bored became looking at a smiling child. All I think now is that My Lord has made this world so beautiful and enchanting. Everything here is a wonder, and if my Lord can create such beauty, then surely He Himself must be far more beautiful. I pray to my Lord: “O Allah, make Miraal the light of her parents’ eyes. Keep all little children smiling and joyful like little Miraal. Protect all these innocent and beautiful souls.” When I look at Miraal and other children, I lose myself in dreams of the children I will have in the future. After hearing this, my friends laughed with tears in their eyes and said, “Shahzad, stop it, man… you’re going to make us cry!” They admitted they never knew I could get so emotional. I laughed and replied, “My brothers, this is exactly why… whenever I see children, I feel so much inside.”
